A serial number can of course be used to identify a stolen instrument. Ideally you should have a record of the serial number with your sales receipt and won your insurance details. This may just be paranoia as I have never heard of this happening, nor can I understand how it could happen. It is rumoured that there is a scam, by which somebody who acquires your serial number can then claim the instrument is theirs. When advertising an instrument for sale, you will often see the serial number referred to as 36xxxx. Why do people sometimes mask the last three digits of a serial number? Or you want to play a horn with a number that is close to your idol’s saxophone. It is sometimes (possible erroneously) supposed that five digit MKVIs are the best.

We have both been through a very rough time over the past year since my husband died and we have had other huge stresses even since then so this is going to be a new fun adventure for us both. Im sure he will still be taking a lot of selfies with his new instrument and will be happy with that until he can use it lol. Im giving him the gold one so I guess seeing it busted was so disappointing since he's coming over tomorrow and cant take it but never mind, its only a little bit more of a wait. My son hasn't seen them yet and he is going to love it. Hardly even a scratch on them either! Odd that both cases do say "pro". Other than this, they are in excellent condition. I just wasn't sure how easy it was to fix a broken part like this and am relieved its common and a simple fix. I think they have still been well worth what I have paid for them without a doubt. Im googling and youtubing a lot but Im not touching anything until Ive seen Gordon and know what Im doing. There seems to be an issue with the octave key activity with the silver one, its not very springy and might just be a screw adjustment. One is for my son and he is a complete newby to playing a wind instrument so I will take him with me so he can listen and learn. He doesn't live too far from me so Im going to take them to him hopefully early next week and at the same time I will ask for a run down on care and maintenance so I can keep them in good order.
